The qualified professional responsible for the student — including the case manager, special education teacher, speech-language pathologist, licensed psychologist, or other credentialed provider — bears full professional and legal responsibility for:
- Reviewing all generated content for accuracy and appropriateness
- Verifying that content reflects current, accurate student data
- Ensuring content meets all applicable legal requirements under IDEA, state education codes, and district policies
- Exercising independent professional judgment before incorporating any generated content into official documents
- Obtaining appropriate ARD team review and approval before finalizing any IEP document
SpedGenie EdTech assumes no liability for the use of generated content in official IEP documents, ARD proceedings, due process hearings, or any other legal or educational context.
SpedGenie is designed to be FERPA-safe by design. SpedGenie does not require users to enter student personally identifiable information (PII) including student names, student ID numbers, date of birth, or Social Security numbers.
Users are solely responsible for ensuring that any information they choose to reference while using SpedGenie is handled in accordance with:
- The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) — 20 U.S.C. § 1232g
- Applicable state student privacy laws
- District data privacy policies and acceptable use agreements
SpedGenie EdTech strongly advises users not to enter student names, ID numbers, or other personally identifiable information into any SpedGenie input field. The platform is designed to function without student PII.
SpedGenie content references the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), 20 U.S.C. §§ 1400–1482, and related federal regulations at 34 C.F.R. Part 300. SpedGenie also references Texas Education Code Chapter 29 and 19 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 89 for Texas-based users.
Use of SpedGenie does not guarantee compliance with IDEA, state education codes, or district policies. Educators and districts remain fully responsible for ensuring that all IEP documents meet applicable legal requirements.
